The Festival of Trees is back for a 18th year with a number of exciting new elements, venues and activities that are sure to cater to everyone in the Quinte community and their families.

2012 marks Quinte Arts Council’s 45th Anniversary of celebrating and cultivating arts in the community.

The Quinte Arts Council is a not-for-profit community arts organization founded on the belief that the arts are for everyone and should be accessible to all. Our membership is comprised of more than 500 individuals, families and businesses, and more than 80 member groups (the groups jointly represent about 6,000 artists and art supporters).

The Nightmare Before Christmas Gala

Saturday, November 17th

On Saturday, November 17, the Memorial Arena at Belleville’s Market Square will be transformed for the Gala Signature Event into an elaborate display inspired by the Tim Burton classic, A Nightmare Before Christmas.

In what is sure to be a whimsical night of frivolous fun and fantasy, the Quinte Arts Council invites you to experience the creative genius of Tim Burton while celebrating over 45 years of QAC support of local artists and community programs and initiatives.

Hosted by none other than the voice of the Belleville Bulls, Jack Miller, this Signature event will feature a live auction led by the always-entertaining, Boyd Sullivan. The evening will also feature a four-course gourmet dinner provided by Earl & Angelo’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant, Capers Brasserie and Wine Bar, Dinkel’s Restaurant & Courtyard and Urban Herb Catering. The event begins with a cocktail reception, wine, and entertainment by the fabulous Bay City Band. Dancing, and live and silent auctions round out this fabulous evening. Tickets are $100 each and are on sale now so be sure to get yours!

Family Days at the Festival

Wednesday, November 21st - Saturday, November 24th

You can take a stroll down Candy Cane Lane with 4 days of live entertainment and fun. Family Days will be held Wednesday to Saturday, November 21 to 24, on the Candy Cane Stage featuring live entertainers, wonderful children and family entertainment, arts and crafts and, of course, the viewing of the beautifully-decorated trees. The Public opening from 5 to 8 p.m. presents Andy Forgie with host, Mark Philbin Classic Hits 95.5. There will be live entertainment from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and a day full of entertainment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with arts and crafts, provided by Family Space and workshops with Quinte Arts Council artist members where children of all ages will be able to create pieces to take home. Admission is free thanks to the Downtown Belleville Improvement Area.

The popular Seniors Dance is back. On Friday, November 23, from 1 to 3 pm, you can Dance Down Candy Cane Lane with the Bay City Quartet and enjoy free baked goods and refreshments. Admission is $5.

There will be more than 50 trees and wreaths that will be decorated by local artists, designers, businesses and organizations that will be on display and available for silent auction or offered as raffle prizes during the Festival.

Holiday Home Tour

Thursday, November 29th, 5 PM – 9 PM

From ‘rustic French country’ to ‘West Coast chic’ and ‘glitzy glam’, the talented decorators at this year’s Holiday Home Tour are planning to wow the curious crowds. The theme is Town & Country and it will feature gorgeous homes in Belleville and Corbyville, beautifully decorated for the season thanks to Committee Co-chairs, Debbie McKinney and Alison Knudsen.

Enjoy live music at each of the homes provided by Quinte Arts Council member musicians Louise Ford, Carolynda Duo, Matt Smith, Matt Snell, Lenni Stewart, Rick Bauer and Tony Silvestri. Drop by Quinte Arts Council’s Gallery and Gift shop for cookies and cider from Campbell’s Orchards.

Tickets are $25 each.


329 River Road, Corbyville. Tradition meets modern in this charming Old English Country Style home overlooking the Moria River.

115 Sycamore Street, Corbyville. Located in one of the Belleville Area’s most prestigious communities, Corby Meadows in historic Corbyville, this custom built Farnsworth home features brick and stone exterior a breathtaking interior.

69 Simcoe Drive, Belleville. This elegant home was custom built by Staikos and modified for the current owners using the original Rose Manor model. Enjoy the West Coast chic holiday décor, where the nature theme is met with a splash of glamour!

45 Chestnut Drive, Caniff-Mill Estates, Belleville. The builder, Staikos, was receptive to the owner’s request to incorporate some Arts and Crafts features into this new home, such as the pillar in the front foyer, the unique staircase to the lower level and the shaker cabinetry.

143 Dufferin Ave, Belleville. This classic “English Manor” inspired home was built by Peter Stewart in 1988. It has a centre hall plan with 10 ft ceilings on the main floor. The cherry walnut parquet flooring with walnut inlaid borders is striking in the grand elegant foyer.

180 Bleecker Ave., Belleville. The new home of Yvon Menard, his tailoring service and Set the Scene special event decorating service, is a spacious, bright, well-appointed bungalow built in 1958. A large family room with fireplace, hardwood floors, and a garden deck were added later.

175 George Street, Belleville. This classic Georgian style century home has a traditional center hall plan and features the original elegant wooden stairway and landing with large principal rooms, tall ceilings, crown moldings and cherry wood floors. The stunning seasonal décor in rich warm colors suits the home perfectly with its harmonious blend of antique modern and old-fashioned Christmas.
