The Quinte Arts Council

The Quinte Arts Council is a registered not-for-profit community arts organization working to develop, integrate, and promote creative culture and artistic opportunities in our community.

Founded in 1967, the QAC is based in Belleville, Ontario and serves the entire Quinte area. Membership is comprised of more than 500 individuals, families, businesses, and in excess of 80 member groups (the groups jointly represent about 6,000 artists and art supporters).

Funds raised through this program not only benefit audiences and students in our community, but is also a sound financial investment. Each year the QAC endorses new artists and provides fees or commissions for their work, which multiplies the effect of your contribution by stimulating the local economy in a manner that individual efforts would not amount to.

Some of the programs and services provided by the Quinte Arts Council are:

Art in the Community - Year-round show and sale (which changes every two months) of multi-media works of more than 500 area artists in 14 non-traditional venues (i.e. hospitals, restaurants, offices).

Arts in Education - Bringing professional artists into local schools, providing educational experience and developing the talents of thousands of students in grades K to 12 each year. In many cases these programs are the only opportunity for students, particularly in rural communities, to participate in an arts experience.

Awards and Bursaries - Supporting local graduating high school students to further their education for a career in the arts.

Expressions - This annual juried show features the work of 75 - 100 artists in the John M. Parrott Art Gallery each year.

Umbrella - The QAC newspaper is the voice of art in the region and is an important communication tool used by artists and arts groups to promote upcoming arts and culture in our community. It has a regional distribution of 5,000 copies six times annually - mailed directly to all members, and is delivered to store fronts, restaurants, businesses, schools and libraries in the area.

These and future programs depend on your support - THANK YOU!
